Winter Wonderland

Despite the lack of snow (so far, we'll get to that later), the ski resorts of interest are operating at close to 100 percent. It hasn't been falling from the sky, but they have been blasting it from the guns. As of Sunday, Attitash had 64 trails open, Sunday River had 115, Black had 40 and Cranmore had 44. Some of you might be asking "Who cares about Black and Cranmore?" Well, part of the reason for renting for a week is so we can ski more, and those are two of the mountains we're looking to fit in early in the week. I like the Black option because tickets are just $25 on liftopia and they have a deal where you can ski for free after 2 p.m. if you buy a ticket for the next day. This is what we're considering for Monday/Tuesday for anyone coming up then. And the bonus is it looks like we will be getting snow up there early that week. I checked the 10-day forecast today and it called for snow showers on Feb. 6 & 7. Of course that's 10 days away, so who knows? But it's good to see some forecast calling for snow, and maybe it will develop into something more significant. Wouldn't that be grand! There are also some snow showers expected tis week, so, things are looking pretty good. Can't wait to see you all!

A reason for the season

In case you live under a rock, or just don't care about sports, the Patriots are heading to their fifth Super Bowl in 11 years and that day is the unofficial kickoff to Big Air 2012. The Super Bowl is Feb. 5 and the following day we will start making our way north to Bartlett for our annual trip. Let's all hope for a win by the Patriots, giving us even more reason to celebrate during the week.

Big Air taking shape

The start to Big Air 2012 is less than three weeks away, and things are starting to take shape. The schedule of arrivals is pretty much set and as follows: Me, Em and Meghan will be heading up on Monday along with Carl, Michelle, Christina and Chase. We will hold down the fort until Susan and Ellen arrive on Tuesday and the Leso family makes it north on Wednesday. It's a mystery as to when Craig will be there, but then again, CSP is an international man of mystery. See you all soon!

Ski more, pay less!

To all the Big Air peeps, I urge you to check out www.liftopia.com for some cheap lift tickets. They have Attitash tix for $40, Black tix for $25 AND Cranmore tix two for $60. All are midweek rates, Monday - Thursday. Since we will be up north longer, we will have more opportunity to ski and this is a good way to do it while saving some money for car bombs at the Door on Friday night. Looking forward to seeing you all, and keep wishing for snow.

White Gold!

Just in time for Big Air, the white stuff has started to fall and up north they are expecting close to foot of natural snow. Although it has been a very green winter so far, this is good to see as we close in on the big vacation week. Ski resorts have been busy making snow and they are opening trails, but we all know there is nothing like good, old fashioned, natural snow and this will hopefully provide a good base for a snowy few weeks. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that this stuff sticks around and we get a lot more piled on top of it.

Tis the season, Big Air Season that is!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and now that the holidays are out of the way it's time to focus on the REAL most wonderful time of the year, Big Air 2012. That's right, Big Air is just five weeks away, starting one day after the Patriots wrap up their first Super Bowl title since 2004, and as you all know we have rented a chalet for the entire week this year. I have included links on the blog to sites for discounted lift tickets as well as conditions to some of the mountains in the area. As we have more time this year, hopefully we can do more skiing. I will also include links to more restaurants as we may spend more time dining out. Me, Em and Meghan are looking forward to seeing you all in February.

Falling in to Big Air

The leaves are starting to fall and snow will soon follow, which means that Big Air St. Pierre 2012 is just around the corner. As you all know, there are some big changes to Big Air this year including a new home base. It's a chalet at the Linderhof Resort in Bartlett and I think you'll all like it. All it's missing is a name. That's something we can work on during the week. Speaking of "week," that's another change, we have the chalet for an entire week, which means more skiing and more sexy pigeons. After skiing only once last year and realizing how fat and pathetic I have become, I am going to try to do some sort of outdoor activity every day of Big Air and ski as much as possible. I hope others will do the same. Anyways, we can't wait until the snow starts to fly and we get to see the whole crew again. I will try to keep you posted about conditions and plans for the week as much as possible through this blog, so check it out when you get a chance.
